The culinary career branches off into two different branches the Chef which will make you a celebrity chef or the Mixology branch which will land you as a Celebrity mixologist. As it sounds if you choose the Chef branch you will focus on the Homestyle cooking skill, while the Mixologist branch will require the Mixology skill. This is a rabbit hole job, meaning that they will disappear when they are working.
Note ~ At level 9 of the mixology career there is a pop-up that will allow you to unlock a secret recipe, called the snaggle fluster. An opportunity card will pop up at some point while you are at level 9 of the mixology branch. It helps sims gain skills super fast and lasts forever, there is no spoil timer! but it is a random event and it may take several days for the option to pop up so you need to KEEP them at level 9.
Note ~ both branches will grant your sim to write a book about their careers.
