How to start
The Fishing skill is improved via fishing, and reading about fishing. Increasing this skill will unlock fishing with bait and increase the likelihood of catching bigger fish. Fishing works well with the gardening career you can use fish and vegetables you catch and grow to cook foods that will cost nothing and give you extra moodlets. A child sim can learn this skill If they achieve Level 10 of the Mental skill.
Levels / Rewards
Level 1 ~ Sim’s new skill in fishing allows them to catch fish, mount them on the wall or keep them in a fish bowl.
Level 2 ~ Sim can now catch bass, koi and trout from fishing spots that contain them. Sim can catch neon angelfish.
Level 3 ~ Sim can now use bait to catch bigger better fish. Sim can examine the water near fishing spots to study fish movements and identify new fish. Sim can now catch fish using fish traps (max of 2) in ocean water! Sim can now catch mahi mahi.
Level 4 ~ Sim can now catch catfish and tilapia from fishing spots where they are found. With a steadier hand and sharper eye, Sim will have a better chance of reeling in treasure while fishing. Sim can now catch princess parrotfish.
Level 5 ~ Sim is developing the mental fortitude and patience required to be a great fisherman. Sim can now fish in any weather and can fish even while being a little uncomfortable, tense or stressed. Sim can now catch butterfly fish.
Level 6 ~ Sim can now catch rainbow fish from fishing spots where they are found. As a respected fisherman with knowledge to share sim can share fishing tips to help other sims improve their angling. Sim can now use up to 4 fishing traps at a time. Sim can also catch the elusive half moon fighting plakat.
Level 7 ~ Sim can now catch the angelerfish which lurks in the deepest of waters. Master fisherman may now share some insider secrets on where to find the rarest of fish when asked about secret fishing spots. Sim has become more adept at deep sea fishing and can catch the coveted bluefin tuna!
Level 8 ~ Sim is now a fixture in the fishing community and renowned near and far everyone on hooklinensinker.sim says so! Sim can now teach other sims to fish. Get out there and spread the knowledge. Sim can now catch the deadly coral scorpionfish!
Level 9 ~ Scourge of the pond! where sim goes, fish tremble with fear. Sim can now patiently angle for a big catch and share expert fishing tips with other sims. Sim can now catch tropical sharks and pygmy swordfish.
Level 10 ~ Sim is a true master of the fishing craft. The most elusive and difficult sea creatures prove no match, and other sims envy your finesse and technique. Sim has mastered the art of trapping and can now have a max of 6 traps. The legendary golden mahi mahi can now be found in appropriate ocean waters.

Traits ~ Loves the outdoors is the one that will be most beneficial because your sim will get boosts while being outdoors.
Tip ~ There are several places that sims can unlock that have different types of fish. forgotten grotto, sylvan glade, deep woods.
Tip ~ There is a part time fishing job
Tip ~ Using ‘testingcheats on’ ‘showhiddenobjects’ type in the buy mode search Debug, scroll through and you will find the fishing ponds and signs.
Tip ~ You can find the cowplant as well as violins and random collectables by fishing.
